Training Ground: EP24

Training Ground is a portion of the show where, you, our devoted BLFS listener, submit your photos to our Big Lens Fast Shutter Flickr Group and we tell you how piss poor your photos are.  Basically, we critique your photos, because we believe love is best served with a harsh slap on your tush.

Enjoy the pain. :)

Big Lens Fast Shutter is funded solely from the pockets of Ryu Voelkel and Matt Cohen. If you think the information we give you about sports photography is making you a better sports photographer and as a result a well balanced human being, please show us your appreciation by supporting us on Patreon and send some of your hard earned dollars/euros/Brixton pounds our way. People who donate will be mentioned on our next show unless you want to remain anonymous. Thank you for supporting us and may the force of sports photography be with you, always.

  1. I think that’s a great idea. I enjoy listening to the podcasts, but the training ground section gets a little long usually. I’ts nice that the training ground can be found for those who want it for a given month, but can be skipped easily for those who don’t.

  2. We moved it to take advantage of the visual element. I think everyone should be listening/watching Training Ground every time because you can learn from everyones’ pictures not just your own.

  3. I’m new to the podcasts and now that I’ve seen both ways to do it, I like this video method better. Matt, your voice is crisp and easy to hear, but Ryu seems to trail off, mumbling or simply speaking too low or softly at times. I find myself turning up the volume and then back down. I miss some of what Ryu says. Maybe something to look at so listeners can get the benefit of both moderators. Both have great advice, and comical elements to add. Would be nice to hear it all.
    Thanks guys.

  4. I don’t think doing it on YouTube makes much of a difference. I normally listen to the podcast whilst going through the Flickr group. But maybe that is just me.

  5. Ryu,

Gotta speak up or change your settings. I had to sit with my finger on the volume and go up and down depending on who was talking. You are better than that…
