Euro 2012: Croatia v Spain

Final group match for Spain and obviously, Mutsu was very happy. The longer Spain stays in the tournament, higher the chances that he will be awarded a spot on the pitch.

“Before this match started, I have been told that if it ended in a 2-2 draw, Italy would have been out regardless of their result against Ireland. Since Italy has one of the biggest number of media after Germany and England, I was hoping they would make an early exit. Apologies to the Italian fans out there, but when the team loses, at least half of the media from that country goes back home with them. Thus giving us more chance to grab a spot on the pitch.

Neither team wanted to lose and the match lacked any sort of urgency. When we got the news that the Italians went ahead, the match became more interesting. Croatia had couple of great chances, but in the end it was Spain who scored. Navas, who came in for Torres got the winner. Del Bosque has been spot on with his tactics thus far.”
