Demystifying sports photography

David

David spent 6 months shooting for a sports agency all at risk, having had 8 pictures published in national newspapers in the UK.  After covering the length and breadth of Yorkshire and making it to a couple of Premiership games, he simply couldn’t make it pay.   He returned to his old stomping ground of Huddersfield Town (English League One) and to be honest that’s all he ever wanted to shoot, the team he supported.  It’s just a shame there was no way to market for his shots, but all he wanted was getting his shots printed on the Monday morning paper.  That’s all good, but he’s afraid the reward isn’t as great as some might think.

So as a club photographer, David enjoyed the freedom to shoot wherever and whatever he wanted.   This was something many won’t ever get the chance to, which is what makes his job so much more enjoyable than spending Tuesday nights in February trying to send pictures in stupidly cold conditions.  Seriously, using fingers when it’s that cold you might as well be hitting your keyboard with sticks.

David currently runs and manages Circle Squared Wedding Photography www.o-squared.co.uk.   It’s the only thing that actually helps with the cost of gear, check them out they are an amazing outfit… and will travel to Paris or the US (Matt and Ryu take note!!).

David conveniently forgot to mention that he is the producer of Big Lens Fast Shutter.
